Institute of Museology to be established in Cairo

In an attempt to develop the skills of Egyptian curators and restorers to meet the level of their counterparts abroad, the Ministry of State for Antiquities Affairs (MSAA) is to establish the first ever Institute for Museology in Egypt. It will be set-up, reports, Ahram Online, with a $5m grant from the US Agency for International Development.

The Institute - based the Casdagli Palace near the Egyptian Museum - will train curators on the recent technology used in museums for better display, restoration and museological education. The two-year course will involve professional collaboration with international museum organisations.
