Dr Rob Richardson, Lecturer in Engineering Systems at the School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds, UK, is the man behind Djedi, the robot which is exploring tunnel in the Great Pyramid. Djedi has crawled up the tunnel carrying a bendy "micro snake" camera that can see around corners.
His current research interests include robotic systems for search and rescue operations, medical robotics, smart mechanisms and modular robotics.
