I am sure you have all heard of author, lecturer, and Ancient Egypt researcher Robert Bauval who is best know for his best known for his Orion Correlation Theory which was published in the international bestseller The Orion Mystery, co-written with Adrian Gilbert and originally published in 1989. BBC2 here in the UK broadcast a documentary on Bauval's theories around the time of the book's publication.
In essence, the main claim of this theory is that there is a correlation between the location of the three largest pyramids of the Giza pyramid complex and the three middle stars of the constellation Orion, and that this correlation was intended as such by the builders of the pyramids. These theories never found much sympathy from Dr Zahi Hawass and there has been a little tension between the two men.
Let’s leave aside the thorny debate as to whether there is any truth in these claims. However, Bauval is quite an entertaining speaker and I have seen him lecture a few times.
Coast To Coast AM is a US radio show and I have just discovered this interview with Robert Bauval where he discusses recent events in Egypt and Zahi Hawass.
