Hear the sound of Tutankhamun's trumpet

Tutankhamun's trumpet was one of the rare artefacts stolen from the Cairo Museum during the recent uprising.

Howard Carter found two trumpets in Tutankhamun tomb following its discovery in in 1922, one silver and one bronze. They were found in different parts of the tomb. They were both decorated with depictions of Egyptian gods identified with military campaigns.

Both trumpets exhibits at the Cairo museum. During a break-in during the uprising, the bronze instrument vanished. Fortunately, the silver trumpet was away on exhibition tour

The 3,000-year-old bronze instrument was played in by British solider James Tappern in 1939 and recorded by the BBC. Click HERE to hear that recording.
