Egyptologist identifies the earliest prosthetic body parts

A scientist has identified the world’s earliest functional prosthetic body parts by road testing the artificial big toes found on Egyptian mummies.

Two artificial big toes – one found still attached to the foot of an ancient Egyptian mummy – were tested by Dr Jacky Finch of the University of Manchester’s KNH Centre for Biomedical Egyptology.

Both have been found to not only look the part but also to be excellent aids to walking like an Egyptian.
