Professor Barry Kemp, senior research fellow at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, who is the author of a key textbook on the archaeology of Egypt, Ancient Egypt, was made a CBE ( Commander of the Order of the British Empire ) in the Queen's New Year honours list.
