Welsh cemetery is linked to the pharaohs

A Victorian obsession with Egypt has given a South Wales cemetery a distinctly ancient feel, an academic has revealed.

Professor Rosalie David, a respected Egyptologist at Manchester University, says that many of the characteristics in cemeteries are thanks to a 19th century interest in ancient Egypt.

Prof David, who is originally from Cardiff and was brought up in Llandaff, will point to Cathays Cemetery as an example of the curiosity people through the Victorian age had with the historical era in a public lecture at Cardiff University.
