New galleries to open at Cleveland Museum of Art
Egyptian antiquities were the first works of art acquired by the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1913. All periods of Egyptian art represented. The eight new galleries, which open Saturday, bring the museum's eight-year, $350 million expansion and renovation to the halfway point in terms of construction.
